Columbia College continues to closely monitor projections for Hurricane Idalia and its projected landfall in South Carolina for late Wednesday evening (8/30) or early Thursday morning (8/31). Current projections indicate a high likelihood of strong winds and heavy rain with potential for flash flooding and dangerous driving conditions.

Because the safety of our students, faculty, and staff remains our highest priority, all offices of the College will be closed beginning at 11am on Wednesday, August 30. All classes and campus activities after 11am on Wednesday (8/30) are canceled. Essential workers including those part of the Office of Residence Life and Housing, Columbia College Police Department, Student Union Dining Hall, and Facilities will report for normal operating hours. All classes, campus activities, and offices are currently scheduled to resume normal operation on Thursday, August 31 at 10am. The Student Union Dining Hall will remain open for service to our residential students. J. Drake Edens Library will be closed Wednesday (8/30) after 11am and will reopen at 10am on Thursday (8/31).

We encourage our Columbia College Community to stay safe, continuing to monitor the safety of roadways as the weather progresses throughout the week.
